NRoSO Workshops - Timing, Targets and Water
An Invitation to a Practical Workshop
As part of the farming and crop protection industry’s Voluntary Initiative to minimise the environmental impacts of pesticides, UAP are once again holding a number of practical workshops that are recognised by NRoSO.
As well as accommodating arable farmers, for the first time UAP are delighted to be able to offer NRoSO workshops specifically tailored for fruit growers. Through these workshops UAP's dedicated fruit agronomy specialists aim to ensure that their top and soft fruit growers are adequately trained to use and store pesticides responsibly.
Training is becoming a more and more important part of Assurance Scheme accreditation, so it is extremely important for growers to receive the right training .The theme for this round of meetings is "Timing, Targets and Water."
All aspects of pesticide application need to be considered to ensure maximum efficiency, efficacy, safety and legal compliance. But can you explain why correct application timing matters to pesticide performance? Do you appreciate the potential yield losses from delayed or poor application?
Are there other pests on your farm that are being controlled by chemicals or poisons, and can you explain the basic legal requirements that apply to the use of these pesticides?
We all know that we should keep pesticides out of water, but do you know who is monitoring water quality and why? Do you understand how water companies remove pesticides from water? Can you identify measures that can be adopted to reduce the risk of pesticides reaching water?
Find out the answers to these questions and many others at this season’s workshops covering:
- The importance of Timing for pesticide applications
- Other Targets not controlled through a conventional sprayer
- Water: how and why to keep pesticides out of water.
The workshops will also allow time to explore other issues that may include:
- The challenges of spraying
- Doing a professional job
- Complying with the law
- Protecting the environment
Attendance will attract points for both NRoSO (10 CPD points) and the BASIS Professional Register.
The workshops will be held all over the country.
